Gravity Field

Started with a sphere.

Shader properties
-distortion intensity
-distortion panning speed
-fresnel control
-HDR color intensity values for fresnel
-distortion texture (RGB)
-distortion mask for changing distortion flow directions.

Took free online skybox for space background to fit theme and give visual depth.

Created new shader to apply to single plane. Takes a straight line and then curves the uvs into a spiral. Shader has control of inner/ outter spiral colors, speed, number of rings, etc.

Added VFX graph for northern and southern magnetic polls. Took some artistic liberty in creating something unique vs a real life reference for this effect.

Added another vfx graph to juice up the rings. This was done by creating a ring geo in Maya and then using Houdini to generate point data. Then in VFX graph I set position based off point data while adding turbulence / velocity over lifetime

Lastly I grabbed some free asteroids off the asset store to complete the project.

Gravity Field

This was a fun VFX/ Tech Art practice piece I did for Unity 2020.1 to hone my skills with shader graph shader creation, as well as VFX graph particle creation. The effect's goal is to visually show gravity's orbital impact on objects in space if applied to a random object (such as an asteroid).

Parts include
-Sphere geo created in maya
-Sphere shader created in shader graph
-Spiral plane created in shader graph
-North and South mag polls created in VFX graph
-spiral particles created in VFX graph

Assets store assets
-astroids
-Skybox
